Lisa Buenaventura is a licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist and holds a Master’s Degree from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles. She began her studies in Oriental Medicine in the midst of a successful career in the music business and devoted her full attention to the practice in 1999 when she finally left the corporate rat race. Upon graduation Lisa built a thriving practice in California, serving clients in Venice, Santa Monica, and Brentwood.
For five years Lisa was the on site acupuncturist at Pacific Chiropractic and Natural Health in Brentwood where she specialized in sports and accident related injuries. As part of her training, Lisa also interned at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Marina Del Rey treating drug, alcohol and smoking addicted patients with great success.
After graduating from Emperor's, Lisa also studied Orthopedic Acupuncture with Dr. Fred Lerner. Dr. Lerner's seminars helped strengthen Lisa's ability to integrate holistic medicine in a Western setting. Lisa has extensive experience treating a wide range of disorders including headaches and migraines, acute and chronic pain, infertility, asthma, colds & flu, allergies, skin problems, arthritis. addiction, carpel tunnel syndrome, digestive disorders, tendonitis , menstrual disorders, menopause, stress and fibromyalgia.
As a healer, Lisa supports her patients by educating and empowering them to take charge of their health through diet and lifestyle. Beyond the requirements of her training, Lisa has studied nutrition extensively and considers it a vital component of her practice.
Lisa also holds a certificate from the Shiatsu Massage School of California. While attending Acupuncture school, Lisa worked as a Shiatsu Massage therapist in the Acupuncture clinic of her mentors Kathy & Mikio Sankey. She has taught hatha yoga for many years, and has developed a unique workshop called “acusana” where she integrates yoga Asana with the Chinese meridian/acupuncture system.
Lisa moved to Austin in 2005 with her husband David Rice and their son Judah to be a part of the rich community they discovered here. She joined the Zygmont family in 2006.
